Zabrus, also known as wet beeswax cappings, is a raw bee product collected during honey harvesting when the thin wax seals are removed from filled honeycombs. It consists mainly of natural beeswax, with small amounts of raw honey, pollen, and propolis naturally present, giving it a distinctive aroma and texture straight from the hive.
 
Unlike honeycomb, which contains a high proportion of honey, zabrus is predominantly beeswax. Its texture is firm yet slightly pliable, with a mild honey aroma and a natural waxy character. Colour and composition may vary between batches depending on season and floral sources.
 
Zabrus is traditionally enjoyed by chewing it slowly, allowing the honey residues to release, before spitting out the remaining wax — similar to how honeycomb is eaten. It can also be added to hot tea, where it gently releases honey and aromatic notes before the wax is removed.
 
Storage Instructions
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep sealed to protect from moisture.
